AFTERNOON SHOOTING ON MIDDLE

Elyria – The Elyria Police Department was called to the area of Middle Ave and 13th Street early afternoon on Tuesday for a male who had been shot.

Police were also given a description of the shooter and the vehicle he had fled the scene in. Police searched the area for the car while other Officers and Detectives searched the area where the shooting took place for shell casings.

The victim, Al Howse Jr. of Elyria, had already left the scene before Officers arrived – he was later found in the Emergency Room at Elyria Memorial Hospital a short time later. Howse is said to be “uncooperative” in the investigation into the shooting. He was released Tuesday evening from the hospital.

Lorain County Sheriff’s Deputies and Lorain County Metro Parks Rangers found and detained a car and the occupants for Elyria Police Officers. The car was discovered in a parking lot of the Duck Pond on Diagonal Road in Carlisle Township.

Two men who had initially told Police that they had no involvement or information of the shooting were later arrested after Police found out they had lied. The two men were found and taken into custody in the 300 block of 11th Street.

Elyria Police continue to investigate the shooting.
