TRUCK SLAMS TREE ON 301

Call Time: 11:39 a.m. Sunday April 12, 2009
Pittsfield Township – A single vehicle crash sent a 28 year old Elyria man to Metro by helicopter Sunday morning.

Kyle Lashley was traveling north on Route 301 when he went left of center and drove his Dodge Ram truck head on into a tree. The collision was so powerful it pushed the engine up into the passenger compartment.

Wellington Firefighters responded to the scene and had to extricate the man from the truck for Paramedics to treat him. Metro LifeFlight landed at the scene and flew Lashley to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland where he remains in stable condition.

When D&A Towing Service arrived to load the heavily damaged truck they called for Firefighters to return to help get the car off the tree without causing further damage. Firefighters were able to use the JAWS to unwrap the truck from the tree with in a few minutes. The property owners said they wanted to thank the tow service for taking the extra time and the Firefighters for returning to the scene to accommodate the request and for saving their trees.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
