SERIAL BANK ROBBER HITS AMHERST

Amherst – The man who walked into the Fifth Third Bank in Sheffield Village Thursday afternoon and held it up struck again – this time in Amherst.

FBI officials say that the robber entered the Amherst First Merit Bank on Leavitt Road Friday afternoon at about 12:20pm. The man approached a teller, handed her a note demanding cash and left within minutes.

The suspect once again displayed no weapon and again did not attempt to hide his face. This time though he ditched his tan colored Carhart style jacket and entered wearing a black jacket and black hat.

Authorities believe this man has hit banks in the Pennsylvania area as well as banks in the Akron and Youngstown area – 7 in total. FBI and Police believe that the man will strike again.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to call authorities: FBI 216.522.1400 – Sheffield Village Police Department 440.949.6155 – Amherst Police Department 440.988.4422.

They need to catch this SOB. Far too many good pictures of him, and NO one recognizes him? Hopefully they catch him soon.

I hope they catch him soon. Someone is going to end up getting hurt before this is over if it goes on much longer.

There are times when a dye pack cannot be placed in with the cash, but I will not divulge that reason in a public forum because I do not want to "encourage" anyone else.

I suspect that this guy is not from around here, and that is probably why no one recognizes him. I also find it interesting that he only picks banks that are on very busy roads and highways; much easier to get away. This guy is actually pretty bright; too bad he didn't use his brains for something legal.

They'll catch him; very few bank robberies go unsolved and the odds are against him. It is just a matter of time. Hopefully this will happen before someone is hurt.

Now is the time for all the overzealous cell phone users who call police on petty traffic violators/fake calls to watch for this creep.

I think almost everyone has cell phones with cameras. A cell phone user must have seen something, and possibly one used their cell phone camera to take a picture of the creeps car and/or license plate.
