COLUMBIA UNDER BOIL ALERT
A BOIL ALERT is now in effect for all of Columbia Township and all customers of the Rural Lorain County Water Authority in Columbia Township and Olmsted Falls, until further notice.
Tom Kelley, Director of the Lorain County Emergency Management Agency and Homeland Security, said tonight that the BOIL ALERT is due to a water line break along Route 82 near the Rocky River in Columbia Township. “This affects everyone along Route 82 between West River and East River Roads and that includes Columbia High School and Copopa Elementary.”
Water intended for cooking purposes or for drinking must be boiled.
ALL Columbia Schools will be CLOSED Thursday due to the water outage.

BOILING INSTRUCTIONS: Boil the water vigorously at or near 212 f (100 c) for at least one full minute to kill any disease causing bacteria that may be present in the water. (A microwave oven may be used to boil the water.)
Vigorous boiling for one to three minutes will kill any disease-causing microorganisms present in water.
The flat taste of boiled water may be improved by pouring it back and forth between two clean containers before use, by allowing it to stand for a few hours after boiling, or by adding a small pinch of salt for each quart of water boiled.
Water to be used for drinking, cooking, making any prepared drink, or brushing the teeth should be boiled.

This is for Columbia Township and Olmsted Falls Rural Water customers only. It is not for the entire system.
Do we have to boil the water over an outside wooden fire or can I use the (gas) stove in the kitchen?? Also, while boiling, can I drop in some clams??
funny graphic TMC....

Well, look at Mr. Fancy Karl with his gas stove in the kitchen. Some people have ALL the money.
I work with Karl. He's loaded.
I may have the stove, just wish I had the money to pay for the gas to use it. Oh well, maybe with my tax "refund" check.
