MELEE BREAKS OUT AT ELYRIA BAR

Elyria – Elyria Police responded to a call of a fight inside of Uncle Vics late Saturday, shortly before bar closing. While dealing with one disturbance another broke out and then another. When a large crowd gathered outside of the bar and began fighting Police called for help from surrounding communities.

Deputies from the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office along with Officers from Sheffield Village and Avon responded to help restore order to the downtown area.

Although LifeCare was called to the scene they did not transport anyone to the hospital. One man who ran from Police down Broad Street past McDonalds was captured on West Ave just off of Broad Street.

Makes Elyria downtown look that much worse.

Maybe time to start patrolling that area a little more closely?

I wonder how many arrests could have been made based on outstanding warrants?

maybe its time to start shutting down all those bars. Why is there a need to have such a huge number of places like that in elyria. Maybe its time for the city officials to say enough is enough! I say get out. I can't even feel safe to take my kids to cascade park, a place I used to go to when I was a kid when I visited my grandmother. What a shame.

Uncle Vics use to have EPD officers employed at the establishment every night they were open, but Chief Medders stopped all liquor establishment outside empoyment for his officers last year.

In ref. to the previous posts. There probably was a large number of outstanding warrants that could have been served. And for the person who stated the police should patrol the area better.... it is hard to do when your shift manpower that night was 8 police to patrol the whole city! Sure would like some help out there.
