STATE PATROL REPORTS 7 DEAD
THIS NEW YEAR’S HOLIDAY
COLUMBUS - The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported seven people were killed in three crashes over the holiday reporting period in traffic crashes on Ohio roads. That number is one less than last year, when eight people were killed during the same reporting period.The following Ohio traffic fatalities are for the holiday reporting period beginning at 6:00 p.m. on December 28, 2007 and ending at 11:59 p.m. on January 1, 2008.
On State and Federal Highways there were 3 fatal crashes killing 7 people and injuring 6.
On County Roads there was 1 fatal crash killing 1 people and injuring 3.
There was one fatal crash on an Interstate Highway (Inside a city) killing 5 and injuring 3.
There were no fatal crashes on the Ohio Turnpike or on any city streets during the holiday weekend.
In the 3 reported fatal crashes 2 involved alcohol use, 1 did not.
Of the seven people killed only one was not wearing a seatbelt.
