SEARCH FOR ARMED SUSPECT

Amherst Police Officials are asking the public for help in identifying the man who held up the Pure Gas Station on Cooper Foster Park Road on Monday evening.

Lieutenant Joseph Kucirek of the Amherst Police Department said that a man walked into the gas station around 10 p.m. on Monday with a semi-automatic handgun demanding money from an employee.

The employee and a victim of the robbery describe the suspect as a Hispanic male in his late 20’s to early 30’s. The suspect was wearing a black coat with a black shirt pulled up over his face, and a black knit cap with white stripes. The suspect was last seen running from the station in a northerly direction.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken during the incident and there were no injuries reported by the victim.

The Amherst Police Department is currently working with other area departments, including Lorain and Sheffield Lake, to see if the robberies could be related to recent armed robberies in their jurisdictions.

Anyone with any information to this incident should call one of the above police agencies.
