Avon Lake Fire Department responded to the intersection of Lear & Electric Tuesday afternoon for a two car crash. Firefighters had to peel back the roof of one car using the Jaws of Life to extricate two victims.

Witnesses say that one car, driven by a 94 year old woman traveling west on Electric, failed to stop at a stop sign striking a car that was traveling north on Lear. Her car then continued across the street and into the parking lot of Fratello’s Restaurant where she struck a parked SUV.
Captain Mike Emling of the Avon Fire Department said that their Department was called for mutual aid with Avon Lake. Emling said that with the driver of the Mazda being in critical condition they transported directly to the parking lot of the Avon Lake Fire Department where Metro LifeFlight was on the ground waiting to take over care. That victim was then flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

Avon lake Fire Officials said that they received mutual aid from Avon, Westlake and Bay Village Fire. Avon Lake transported one to Fairview Hospital Emergency Room, while Bay Village transported a third victim.
