FATAL COLLISON ON HENDERSON DR

A head on crash in Lorain Friday afternoon left one person dead at the scene trapped in a burning car.

Lorain Firefighters and LifeCare Paramedics responded to Henderson Bridge for a reported head on car crash. When Police and Firefighters arrived on scene they found a small car fully engulfed in flames with a person trapped inside. The car, driven by a 70-year-old male whose name is not being released yet, was seen driving north on Henderson Drive heading to the Bridge when it crossed the median and slammed head on into a red pick up truck. Witnesses at the scene say that the driver was slumped over the wheel when they saw him strike a guardrail and orange construction barrels before striking the pick up truck. The driver of the truck received minor injuries in the crash.

The Lorain County Coroner will do an autopsy to determine if the driver died of a medical condition prior to the crash or if the crash and fire killed him.

The Lorain Police Department immediately blocked all traffic to the Lofton Henderson Bridge and kept it closed for several hours while Traffic Investigators examined the scene.
