THEY WERE DANCING ON MAIN STREET
The 4th annual “Dancing on Main Street” in Amherst, sponsored by Main Street Amherst in partnership with Premier-Toyota Scion of Amherst, was by all accounts a huge success. The weather was perfect, the crowds were large and the food was tasty.
Thousands of people filled in the streets of downtown Amherst Saturday night to enjoy the various taverns, 9 hours of live music and good company. Sorry, almost forgot the Corn Hole Tournament. Tom Brezina of Team Brezina & Hensley said he enjoys Dancing on Main Street because it is an event unlike any other. “This is great to be able to hang out with friends down here without all the trappings of typical festivals. This is very laid back with great food, music and of course the Corn Hole competition.” Team Brezina & Hensley just missed the finals losing 21-18. This might hurt their chances of getting a major sponsor for their team but they continue to train for the Olympics.
Debbie Brumfield from Church Street said she likes this event because it brings all the Taverns together. “We meet once a week and I think it makes us stronger that we do work together like that. This is unlike most cities where they do the carnival thing, here it’s the Taverns and businesses coming together to put on a quality event with great food and music.”

Trina Johnson of Amherst and Master Scuba Diver said she loves this event. “This is amazing, I love the food, especially Ziggy’s and to be down here with friends and just enjoy the weather and each others company is great.”
One man who we spotted dancing in front of the stage during the Naked Monkey’s summed up the event in one word: Phenomenal.
The band Naked Monkey’s certainly was a crowd favorite playing longer then anyone had anticipated, with no complaints. If you missed it you can look through our photos to see what all the talk is about.
