PIT BULL ATTACK ON FOSTER AVE

Veronica Baum was asleep in her Foster Ave. home after working overnight last night when the screams of her children woke her up. When she ran to the front of the house she found that her dog, Deuce, was being attacked by a pit bull. Baum’s children had just put Deuce on his chain in the front yard before the attack. The children had all gone back into the home before the pit bull went after their dog.

“My children were screaming, my husband was screaming and neighbors were even screaming. Neighbors were hitting the dog with golf clubs and sticks to try and get him off of Deuce but nothing was working. My husband even swung a torque wrench so hard that he hurt his side but it seemed to not have any effect on the pit bull.”

It took the Mailman using his pepper spray to get the pit bull to back off of Deuce. One neighbor said that if it hadn’t been for the Mailman he’s not sure what would have happened. A family member rushed Deuce, a 3-month-old German Sheppard mix, off to a Vet for treatment. The Lorain County Dog Warden was called to the scene and took control of the pit bull. Police were unable to locate the owner of the pit bull.

The Baum family, having 4 children, moved to Elyria about two years ago from Lorain because of all the problems there involving pit bulls running loose attacking people. They have seen pit bulls in the neighborhood here but have had no problems until this morning.

We know what the Baum family and their neighbors who went through this experience feel should happen to the pit bull, but we would like to know what you think should happen. We will update you on Deuce’s condition as soon as we get word from the family.

I feel horrible for the family but it is the pits owners that need punished-not the dog. find them and make them pay for everything that the shepherm mix puppy needs but if the pit is not people aggressive find it a good home.

there is a huge diffrence between people and animal aggression, they are not interchangeable. There are breeds of dogs that do not get along with other dogs and animals but that does not mean since they attack another dog they will attack a person.

The dog looks skinny-chances are its owners are disgusting excuses for people who should never have had pets in the first place and the poor dog probally came from an even mroe horrible breeder. Give the the poor thing a chance with a responcible owner.

You guys OBVIOUSLY do NOT know anything about Pit Bulls or even humans for that matter to put it bluntly a pit bull is like a Pedophile If the creature has not been correctly brought up it will become agressive as it's own nature is developed!Pedophiles were not correctly brought up either and have developed the desire(sick and twisted and uncurable as well) Pit bulls having developed that instinct will not change, they are bred for that very reason. So blame those certain idiot breeders and breed developers.(not every breeder is like this but many are- like the gang related backyard breeder/fighter(game dog industry they are called) but the Breed developers had only Money and desire for status on their minds.
These fit for only death fighter/breeders are usually criminals and drug dealers on the side or ex drug dealers who have taken to start fighting and breeding these poor dogs. In Mexico those "game dogs" fight and get beheaded when they lose thats how pits came to the USA(thank those illegal alien dog fighters again/drug runners too)

That dog does look like it needed vet care and food anyways!!

All dogs need to be leashed or chained, especially Pit Bulls.
In this case the Pit Bull was UNLEASHED/UNCHAINED and the owner should be fined and jailed. (If they can find a person willing to claim it.)

Not saying it's true ...but all my life I have heard..once they get a taste of blood there's no going back...not just of Pits but most aggressive breeds. I hate to single out the Pit BUT, you hear about them in the news more often than you do other breeds mostly because they are so intent on the attack and the lock jaw makes it so hard to get them to release. I've had German Shepards and have friends that have owned Rots & Dobies, the upbringing & training is what really says it all. One of the first things I train my dogs is the respect of the leash. Shaking and laying down comes later. I have 4 dogs now and one is a Great Dane. I can walk her with no problems. If another dog comes by she of corse barks up a storm BUT, she will not pull or tug at her leash. Control has to be in the hands of the owner. My Granmother always said.."You raise your kids so other people will like them because your going to love them no matter what" and since I could only have One son & he's grown & about to be married, my animals are my kids now.
