FOUR CAR CRASH IN HOSPITAL LOT

MAN MISTAKES GAS PEDAL FOR BRAKE

Elyria – A man and his wife were about to leave the parking lot of Gates Medical Building on the grounds of Elyria Memorial Hospital Friday afternoon when they were involved in a four car crash.

The man thought his car was in reverse when he hit the gas pedal to back out of a parking spot – the car was actually in drive. The car leapt forward striking one car – the man began to panic and hit the gas even harder causing his car to cross over to another section of parking and striking an SUV which in turn struck the car ahead of it.

LifeCare Paramedics responded and treated only the wife, the man refused treatment or transport. The wife was taken to the emergency room not for any injuries but for chest pains. All of the other cars involved were unoccupied at the time of the crash.

The Elyria Police Department is investigating the crash.
