MAN SLAMS TREE – FLEES SCENE

Carlisle Township – Angel Morales said the evening silence was broken Saturday night when he heard a loud “POP” noise in front of his house.

“When we heard the noise we went to the window to see what had happened, we could see a dark car against the neighbors tree. We called 9-1-1 to get help and while we were waiting the guy kept trying to drive away but the car was just too damaged.”

The car had been traveling south on West Ridge Road when the driver lost control going off the left side of the road before crossing over and going off the right side and into Morales’ yard. Aside from the job done on the yard the car took out a mailbox and clipped a power line going to a utility pole before crashing into the tree.

Carlisle Township Firefighters and LifeCare Paramedics responded but Morales said that when he started hearing the sirens the driver jumped out of the car and ran behind his house into a wooded area. Firefighters and Police searched the area using thermal imagers and lights but were unable to locate the driver.

While waiting on a tow truck the Trooper investigating the crash saw a man walking south on West Ridge walking right towards the crash. After detaining the man and asking a few questions it was determined that he was the driver.

Paramedics checked out the man but he refused treatment or transport. The Trooper then took him into custody.
