APARTMENT FIRE KILLS FAMILY CAT
Elyria – An apartment fire in Elyria kept Firefighters busy Saturday evening and has taken the life of the family cat.Elyria Firefighters were called to Evergreen Village Apartments at 1100 Oakwood Dr. Saturday just after 5pm for a reported smell of smoke in the building. When Firefighters arrived they found smoke coming from apartment 203. Firefighters had to kick down the door after receiving no response.
Several pieces of furniture were on fire in the apartment and they were quickly extinguished by Firefighters.
Captain Jim Cawley of the Elyria Fire Department said that the man who lives in the apartment told him that he had left for work at about 4:30pm. The damage estimate is being placed at $15,000.00. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
