ABBE ROAD PILE UP

Elyria Police and Firefighters just finishing up with one crash on Route 57 near Cleveland Street this morning responded from there to a report of a 5 car pile up on North Abbe Road and Route 57.

Emergency crews arrived and found a 4-car pile up with one car resting on a guardrail. LifeCare Paramedics and Elyria Firefighters assessed all of the occupants treating and transporting only one with minor injuries, all others signed off refusing treatment at the scene. Firefighters secured the vehicles and used Cell Sorb to dike the storm drains due to cars leaking motor oil and gasoline.

Elyria Police rerouted northbound traffic down Hilliard Road to Gulf until the towing company was able to remove the Ford Focus from the guardrail.

Elyria Police is investigating the crash.

Hi Terry, Judy & I went to Sam's this morning to buy RED CUPS. Saw the accident before the traffic back up. Very strange seeing a car on a guard rail. Took a little bit of rerouting to get back to dispatch though. Did I ever tell you how much we all love your web site. Anytime anything happens I lot on & know there will be lots of pictures! Janet
