CRASH SENDS 5 TO AREA HOSPITALS

A two car crash today on Lake Ave and Lorain Blvd. sends 5 people to area hospitals. Elyria Firefighters and LifeCare Ambulance Paramedics treated the victims at the scene and transported them to both Elyria Memorial Hospital and Avon Emergency Care Center.

Herb dela Porte, Vice President of LifeCare Ambulance said the victims were taken to separate hospitals to prevent overwhelming one emergency room. “When at all possible we look at the type of injuries, seriousness of injuries and location of the crash to determine if we can send our ambulances to different hospitals. Today we had 5 victims, all fully immobilized so we felt it was best to send some to Avon Emergency Care Center to not overwhelm Elyria Memorial.”

Elyria Police are investigating the crash.
