PAYING RESPECTS

To One of Their Own

Hundreds of Police Officer’s from around the United States came together Thursday to pay their respects to Cleveland Heights Police Officer Jason West. West, an Avon native, was shot and killed in the line of duty last week when responding to a fight in Cleveland Heights.

The funeral was held at St. Mary’s church in Avon on Stoney Ridge Road, it was there that hundreds of Police Officers lined the street and stood in honor of their fallen comrade. The streets of Avon were also lined with citizens wanting to show their support to Officer West, his family and his extended Police family. Flags, candles and hand drawn signs were could be found all along the procession route. Officer West was laid to rest in a private service a couple miles away at the Resthaven Memory Gardens on Center Road in Avon.
