HUSSEIN EXECUTED

BREAKING NEWS

Arab TV, Alhurra & Alarabiya have announced that Saddam Hussein was executed in Iraq tonight at 9:50pm our time, just before sunrise Iraq time. Alarabiya has reported that there was a video and still camera in the room during the execution.

Just 56 days after being sentenced to death coalition forces turned Saddam Hussein over to Iraqi Officals at 5:30am, the Judge then read the sentence to Hussein. Hussein, wearing all black and carrying a Quran, refused to wear the hood that is traditionally worn during a hanging. He yelled, “God is great” just before he was put to death. An Iraqi Offical who was a witness to the execution stated that Hussein was dead “in the blink of en eye”.

Two other men, Barzan Hassan and Awad Bandar, were suppose to have been hanged along with Hussein but Iraq Officals chose to reserve this day for Hussein only. The two men will be put to death at another date.

President George W. Bush released a statement after hearing the news of Hussein’s execution, it said in part,
Today, Saddam Hussein was executed after receiving a fair trial -- the kind of justice he denied the victims of his brutal regime. Saddam Hussein's execution comes at the end of a difficult year for the Iraqi people and for our troops. Bringing Saddam Hussein to justice will not end the violence in Iraq, but it is an important milestone on Iraq's course to becoming a democracy that can govern, sustain, and defend itself, and be an ally in the War on Terror. We are reminded today of how far the Iraqi people have come since the end of Saddam Hussein's rule - and that the progress they have made would not have been possible without the continued service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform. Many difficult choices and further sacrifices lie ahead. Yet the safety and security of the American people require that we not relent in ensuring that Iraq's young democracy continues to progress.
The Iraqi Government will be releasing still photos and video of the execution to the media at an undertermined time.

May God show his mercy on all of our troops who are stuck in Iraq and going to have to try and live through these darkest days in our nation and certainly the darkest days for Iraq. May we all pray that somehow, these people who have been fighting with each other for longer than the United States has existed, may suddenly find away to get along so no more troops are killed, and they can come home to where they belong, safely with their families!!!!!

Saddam is dead and the world is still screwed up. Saddam wasn't the problem. He was only a symptom of the problem. He only took what's really going on in the world and struck at the opportunity. He was an opportunist. People buy into this sensationalism that he was the devil incarnate because they hate to deal with the fact that they're too blame as well. The problem is with society. All societies, not just the Iraqi society. People die all the time. People starve all the time. People are murdered. People kill. People execute. People torture. People steal. We're able to tolerate minor sins, because I mean, isn't it equivalent to a little white lie? A lie is a lie. A sin is a sin. No matter how concentrated or how watered down it is. The problem with the world is that people have too much of a myopic view of what's really going on. No one thinks anymore because everything is fed straight out of our tv. Not even forcefed either. We gladly lap up the stupidity because thought is too difficult to bare. Give me a break. If you're going to act like an animal and not think, then you deserve any societal pressures that are imposed upon you. If you think, then fight back. Shed light upon the stupidity. What sucks though, no matter how much knowledge you have, or how much you fight, people will only allow themselves to see what they want to see, and not actually look at the whole situation.

Why is it that Saddam was sentenced less than 2 months ago and his death sentence has been carried out but we have murderers sitting on death row for more than 20 years??
