HOUSE FIRE IN AMHERST

Amherst Firefighters responded to a home on Middle Ridge Road about a mile west of Quarry Road Sunday morning after a homeowner discovered a fire in his ranch style home. Firefighters arrived scene and as one Firefighter put it, “flames were pouring out of the windows.” The fire was apparently caused by electrical problems in the basement. South Amherst and Florence Township Fire Departments responded with tankers and manpower to assist Amherst in fighting the blaze. LifeCare Ambulance Paramedics responded to treat a Firefighter after taking in too much smoke while fighting the fire. That Firefighter was taken to the hospital and was released a short time later.
