WELLINGTON HOUSE FIRE


Wellington Fire District responded to a structure fire last night around 11pm on Hawley Road in Wellington Township. When Firefighters arrived they found heavy heat and smoke coming from the basement of a two-story home. Robert and Karen Bennett own the home; both were home this morning along with two of their children, all escaped without injury.


The first unit arrived on scene 3 minutes after the call from 9-1-1 was received finding the family outside of the home. Firefighters immediately entered the home and discovered a fire in a basement bedroom. The structure was valued at $216,000.00 with a primary loss figure set at $60,000.00. The home sustained heavy smoke damage with fire damage being contained to the basement bedroom.

Fire Investigators from the Wellington Fire District are in charge of the investigation. Pending further investigation, the cause of the fire is currently listed as undetermined.
