MAN SHOT & KILLED OVERNIGHT POLICE SEARCHING FOR SUSPECT
Elyria Police released a statement this morning in reference to the shooting on Tattersal Court last night.
Police
say they received calls of shots being fired in the area of #1 Tattersal Court
around 10:49pm Sunday night. When Officers arrived they found a white car had
crashed into an electrical box in the area of Lake Ave and West River. Inside
the vehicle, Officers located a person who had been shot. Police identified the
victim as 48 year old Anthony L Coats.
LifeCare
Paramedics and Elyria Firefighters treated Mr. Coats at the scene and
transported him to Elyria Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Elyria
Police, along with Troopers from the State Patrol and Deputies from The Sheriff’s
Department searched a home on West River where witnesses thought he ran to –
but he was not located in the home.
As part of their investigating, Officers interviewed witnesses and have identified the suspect in the shooting as 42 year old Tove D. Adams.
Warrants
have been signed against Mr. Adams for Murder and Felonious Assault. Police ask
that if anyone sees Mr. Adams or know his whereabouts to please contact the Elyria
Police Department at 440.323.3302.
Police
say that Mr. Adams should be considered ARMED & DANGEROUS.
