DRIVER SEARCHES FOR CELL PHONE REAR ENDS POLICE CAR

Elyria – An Elyria Police Officer was about ready to clear a call when the driver he had just been talking to backed into his vehicle.
The Officer had been speaking with a driver in the parking lot of Burger King on West River Road by the Midway Mall Sunday evening about her erratic driving. While he was getting back into his 2012 black Tahoe the driver, 53 year old Tina Riverbark of Elyria, put her 2003 Chevy Cavalier in reverse to leave. Riverbark then leaned over to search for her cell phone on the floor of her car and let her foot off the brake allowing the car to roll back and strike the passenger side front bumper of the Officer’s new Tahoe.

There were no injuries in the accident but LifeCare Paramedics were called to evaluate Riverbark for a possible medical issue. She refused treatment or transport at the scene.

Police cited Riverbark with Reasonable ControL.
