FLOOD WARNING - WEEKEND UPDATE

UPDATE Friday 1:00 p.m.
The FLOOD WARING for the Black River at Elyria continues until further notice. At 9 a.m. Friday the stage was at 10.7 feet and falling. Flood stage is at 9.5 feet. Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. The river will continue to fall to a stage of 9.9 feet by Saturday morning.

Late Afternoon: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 63. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tonight: Occasional showers, mainly after midnight. Low around 44. East wind between 15 and 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Saturday: Occasional showers. High near 50. Breezy, with a east wind between 17 and 21 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 37. East wind between 10 and 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a FLOOD WARNING for the Black River at Elyria.

The WARNING remains in effect until Thursday afternoon. At 9 p.m. Wednesday the stage was at 8.8 feet and rising. Flood stage is 9.5 feet. Minor flooding is forecast.

At 9.5 feet flooding begins in the southern part of Elyria and in Carlisle Township.


REMEMBER: NEVER DRIVE YOUR CAR THROUGH FLOODED ROADWAYS. THE WATER MAY BE DEEPER THAN IT APPEARS. TURN AROUND – DON’T DROWN!
