2 HOUSE FIRES WITHIN AN HOUR

Elyria – Elyria Firefighters had to deal with a situation that most of them have never heard of in their careers – two working house fires at one time.

The first call came in for a fully involved abandoned house fire in the 900 block of Foster Ave off Lake Ave at 3:16 a.m. When Firefighters arrived they found heavy fire coming from every corner of the home.

While Firefighters were battling that blaze they received word from Lorain County 9-1-1 at 3:55 a.m. of a possible structure fire on Maple Ave off Middle Ave. They had received calls from neighbors of heavy smoke in the neighborhood. Firefighters that had been called in to fill in the station responded to Maple Ave and found smoke coming from the home and fire shooting out of the back of the vacant home.
