Lorain – The Lorain Fire Department responded to Community Health Partners West Campus Saturday night just after 7 p.m. when an alarm sounded indicating a possible hazardous materials incident.

Lorain Firefighters and the Lorain County Hazardous Materials Team said that a medical sterilization chemical called – ethylene oxide – may have been present. However, after doing complete readings they found no creditable evidence of a leak or heightened readings.

Officials say that nobody, including patients, were ever at risk during the incident. The hospital will perform comprehensive testing of the alarm system.
