COOLIN' OFF
Elyria – With temperatures hitting in the 90’s throughout the area people were looking for ways to cool off. A group of kids in Elyria took advantage of an open fire hydrant on Tedman Court in Wilkes Villa Sunday.
The National Weather Service is forecasting another day in the 90’s for Monday with a chance of Thunderstorms Monday night.

Well hopefully none of those kids homes catch fire while they're playing in the water, as the water pressure goes an extremely low level when a hydrant is left open. It amazes me that after they've been told this that they still continue this practice and then they'll complain that the firemen didn't do enough to save they belongings. Let get some sense in the south end of this city. No where else in the city do the police have to respond with the firemen to turn off the hydrants.
Don't just blame the south side. It happens all over. Happens in Lorain quite often. Cleveland fire had over 100 hydrants running yesterday. Haas
you dont see that kind of stuff in N.R. or Westlake tho
in N.R. they have the swamps to keep them cool !!
I have lived in Lorain my entire 50+ years, and I have NEVER seen a fire hydrant opened for someone's pleasure. Can't say that it has never happened, but if I have never seen it, then just how justified is the comment that "it happens in Lorain all the time"?? Why do some people assume that only heathens live in Lorain? I am a professional and I CHOOSE to live here.
