MAN RUNS FROM POLICE

ENDS UP IN THE BLACK RIVER
Elyria – A search is underway for a man who ran from the Police Saturday night and ended up in the Black River.

Elyria Police were called to a Forest Street home Saturday night for a disturbance, when they arrived a man took off running from the residence. Police gave chase through the neighborhood and down into a wooded area. During the chase Officers witnessed the man go into the Black River but did not see him exit. The Elyria Fire Department and LifeCare Paramedics were called to the scene. Firefighters began an immediate search of the shoreline looking for the male but could not locate him.


Although the search continues at this hour it is downsized to just members of the Elyria Fire Department Dive Team doing a search of the shoreline inside of Cascade Park.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has extended a flood warning for the Black River. Flood stage for the Black River is 9.5 Feet – At 10:00 P.M. the Black River was at 11.3 Feet and is not expected to fall to below flood stage until late Sunday afternoon.
