DEVELOPING STORY
Elyria – A bar room brawl Friday night in Elyria sent two men to the hospital with multiple stab wounds.
Elyria Police were called to the Back Street Bar on Sugar Lane off of East Broad Street around 11 P.M. Friday night after a large fight broke out. LifeCare Paramedics and Elyria Firefighters were right behind the Police because there were reports of multiple victims.

Friday night after a large fight broke out. LifeCare Paramedics and Elyria Firefighters were right behind the Police because there were reports of multiple victims.
Once Officers secured the scene Paramedics and Firefighters were able to tend to two male victims with multiple stab wounds. Both men were transported to Elyria Memorial Hospital. Metro LifeFlight flew into town with two helicopters for the injured men, one landing on the roof of the hospital and the other in the field of McKinley school next door.
Both victims were flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland where their condition is unknown at this time.
The Elyria Police Department is investigating.

i frequent this establishment on a regular basis. the owners have tried very hard in the last 5 or 6 years to REALLY clean up this place. it used to be one of the roughest bars around. there has been a huge turn around. they have great food and normally a great clientele. it is one of those places when you walk in you know everyone and it seems like you are surrounded by family. it is a true shame that things like this happen. my prayers go out to the victims and may the suspect if guilty rot in hell. i can only hope the business that has tried so hard can survive after something this tragic.
I hope that the perpetrator of the stabbings is caught and that the victims aren't seriously hurt and have a speedy recovery. Patsy

i find it funny how everyone just assumes that the person that did the stabbing should "rot in hell". Nobody knows exactly what happened, to me it looks like ONE guy was jumped by TWO guys and getting the crap beat out of him so what else could he do to defend himself?? so, maybe you should consider what was going thru his mind and look at his picture in the paper and decide for yourself. maybe they DIDN'T deserve what was coming to them but they learned their lesson "to mind their own business and not to start a fight" which they did. all in all i hope things work out for D. Parks.

i DO know what happened and i will say it again. mr. parks can ROT IN HELL. i am not saying there wasnt fault in all of the parties involved. but nothing that happened that evening warranted a stabbing. people that have the ability to whip out a knife and plunge it into someone else need to be off the streets. as far as im concerned he's getting off easy with an aggravated assault charge. it should be attempted murder. you dont stab someone multiple times and hope they dont die.

My thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this crime. We can only hope that justice will be served when this plays out in a courtroom. It does not matter what kind of verbal exchange took place or the fact that they were in a physical altercation, at what point did it become acceptable to take out a knife and almost stab to death two men, who by the way had no weapons. If he engaged in a fight with these two men and then was unable to hold his own then guess what, you chalk it up to getting your ass kicked and you go home. What you do not do is pull out a knife like some kind of barbarian and stab people with no regard for human life. If someone has no more control over their actions than that, then they should not be walking the streets. I certainly hope no one cuts in front of him at the grocery store.
I have to agree with anonymous on this one that apparently the guy went out looking for trouble. Why carry a knife? Either he was looking for trouble (and he got what he was looking for) or he expected the possibility of trouble. If I expect trouble when I'm just trying to get a beer and a burger, I'll go someplace else rather than risk carrying a concealed weapon and a confrontation. Hopefully he spends a long time in the slammer so he's off the streets. Only problem with that is that it's my tax dollars that are now supporting this bum. What a ripoff!
i totally agree with that last person calling silverdud an idiot. Silverdud you ARE an idiot! and aparently you DON'T know what happened or you wouldn't be saying what you are saying. There were actually more then two people kicking mr parks in the face punching him and basically doing whatever they could to try to "kill him." all because of mr parks being "black"? hmmmmmm kindda interesting isn't it?? and what YOU dont know is that those two guys were looking for trouble they got kicked out of the last bar for trying to start a fight with someone else. so i think those racist pigs should "rot in hell" and they DO get what they deserve. mr. parks threw the first punch. it was a verbal altercation before that. so i guess you can say the guy who started it finished it. i hope he feels like a big tough guy!! Mr. parks face looked like it did in the paper because the guys he threw the first punch at didnt back down. maybe next time they will back down to avoid getting stabbed.
He probably threw the first punch because he had two + guys ontop of him. The only thing he did wrong was try to go to the bathroom. what a minute? last time i checked going to the bathroom wasnt wrong. Those two guys STARTED THE ALTERCATION!!! they moved his drinks from the table he was sitting at, then after he moved them back, the two idiots, just like yourself silverdud, started saying all this crap to him to try to get him to fight. It didnt work, until THEY JUMPED ON HIS BACK PUNCHING AND KICKING HIM. So do you know what i think? I think that you are friends with those two racist jerks. Don't be mad b/c they ARE IN THE WRONG and Mr. Parks is totally right. Apparently, seeing that he is out of jail and they are doing an investigation on the other guys. So. OH i forgot one thing. Karl, tell me this, do you really think that NOBODY carry's knives? IT's not like he had a kitchen knife. the knife he had matched his holder. maybe he's a hunter just like every other hunter in the whole united states. alot of people just carry them because they like them. It has NOTHING to do with "looking for trouble" I think if he was looking for trouble he would've just stabbed them in the heart and ran, instead of "defending himself" and then waiting about 5 minutes outside in the front door with his hands up until the police came. can we please stop all the anonymous postings!! i would love to know who the irrational people are who post on this site. Mr. or Mrs. anonymous i would like to let it be known that at no point and time did race ever affect my opinion about this situation. You were the one who first mentioned race. you were the one who made it a black / white thing. you were the one claiming to be the white guy defending the black guy. this has nothing to do with race. it has to do with people getting drunk and not thinking clearly before a decision was made. i belive i made the point that noone was completely innocent in this situation. but when you make the decision to pull a knife during a fight that takes things to a whole different level. a person capable of taking it to that level needs to be off the streets. you are truley a sad person if you think otherwise. at some point and time mr. parks may have been defending himself, but stabbing someone goes beyond defense. there was malicious intent behind that knife. it went beyond self defense. the fact that mr. parks waited for police to get there says little about his character. he was in a private club in a room full of witnesses and surrounded by cameras. everyone there knew where he worked. its not as if he could have remained anonymous like yourself. and as far as the other two parties involved they SHOULD be charged for fighting as well.
i must thank Mr. anonymous though. your comment about carrying a knife because he is a hunter gave me a good chuckle. im sure mr. parks was searching for that trophy 12 point white tail when he was approached by two men and asked to quite down. maybe they wanted him to be quite because they too were out "hunting." its a good thing since they are all avid hunters they just didnt pull out their rifles and start shooting each other from treestands. that argument holds no water. even if mr. parks is a hunter why would he be carrying his hunting knife in a bar. i belive when you walk in to any establishment that serves alcohol there is a big sign explaining that carrying concealed weapon is prohibited. we can chalk that up to one more law that the upstanding mr. parks broke.
this all boils down to you defending someone who every moral individual in this world thinks is wrong. its a shame that your mother didnt teach you that stabbing someone is wrong no matter what the situation.

Please give me a break. I happen to realize that people carry knives (especially when they're looking for a fight or maybe a quick robbery). I'm also glad he had a matching carrier for his knife (nice to have the complete get-up instead of just having to carry the knife in your pocket). I highly doubt that every other hunter in America carries their knife into a bar, especially when there are signs posted prohibiting weapons. And, like silverdud said, when you've got a bar full of witnesses, what's the point in running. People know who you are, what you did, and they're going to tell the police what happened. Sounds like all three of these guys should be sitting in jail. I don't care what their race or creed is, you do the crime, you do the time.

Hahahaha plus i never said that mr parks was a hunter. all i said was that alot of people carry knives and i gave an example. maybe your mother should put you back in grade school to learn how to read. anyways im more then sure that if someone, no a couple of guys, were beating the crap out of you, you would DO WHATEVER IT TOOK TO STAY ALIVE. right?? i really cant stress that enough. what wouldve happened if they did kill mr parks? then what would people be saying? what would you be saying? well only GOD knows what will happen in the end. and maybe you should open your eyes alittle more rather then take the "so called victims" side. maybe being up all night plowing snow has clouded my thinking process. last time i was in school this was a contradicting statement.
mr. cj i think you are the one who needs to learn how to read. you did say one thing that made sense though so maybe there is hope for you yet. you said "justice will be served." that is correct. thank God for the job that our hard working police and detectives do. without them we would have crazy people like mr. parks stabbing everyone and getting away with it.
in closing i have one stitch of advise for you. dont bring a knife to a gun fight. (no pun intended)
