SOME PEOPLE NEVER LISTEN
Ignoring orders from the Police could not only get you arrested, it could get you some flattened tires as well.
Amherst Police, early Friday morning, received a call at 2:29 a.m. that a blue Chrysler, in the area of Amherst Hospital, was pulling out of the parking lot. The Chrysler, owned by Ms. Rebecca Corbin, had been involved in an arrest earlier that at which time Corbin was ordered to leave the vehicle in the lot until a valid driver could pick it up.
When Officers arrived the area they observed the Chrysler heading north on North Leavitt Road from Cleveland Blvd. The Officers who spotted the vehicle were familiar with the car having been involved in the earlier incident and had inventoried the car.
Amherst Police Department Lt. Joseph Kucirek said that once the Officers attempted to initiate a stop due to the owner of the vehicle being suspended. “Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the vehicle continued northbound on North Leavitt Road. While behind the vehicle, the cruiser lights and sirens were activated at which time the vehicle continued down North Leavitt Road and entered onto the Eastbound SR2 entrance ramp. Officers continued to follow the vehicle as it ran off the roadway on the right side and nearly struck several other vehicles. The vehicle then exited SR2 onto SR57 southbound. At this point, multiple police departments were involved in the pursuit of the vehicle. The suspect vehicle finally struck a set of "spike strips" on SR57 just north of SR113. The driver of the vehicle, 28-year old Ms. Rebecca C Corbin of Vermilion, was taken into custody without incident.”
Lt. Kucirek said that Ms. Corbin had been arrested earlier that evening for Drug Abuse of Cocaine (F5) and Child Endangering (M1). Ms. Corbin was arrested again after the vehicle chase and now faces additional charges for Felony Fleeing (F3), Felony Obstructing (F5), Failure to Comply with Lawful Order (M1), DUS (M1), Driving Marked Lanes (MM), and Weaving (MM). Corbin was transported to the LCSO and given an $18,300.00 bond.

Geez, Amherst is starting to sound like Lorain. Chasing a female who was arrested earlier and arresting a cop that doesn't understand a CPO.
yeah except the people causing shit in amherst are never from amherst.
Amherst resident
Yeah, I agree amherst resident. Funny how people bash Amherst when the people they catch in Amherst are NOT from Amherst. People have to realize that there are MANY places in Amherst that people from other cities go to.
hmm mel, if someone breaks the law and does what this moron did, dont you think they should be arrested?? Unless maybe you are her cousin, brother or daddy. Get real. Hats off to the police!!!
I hate to tell you Corey Earl is from Amherst. Well Amherst resident did you every think that your police department might not have a chase policy and your pd could kill someone by chasing them!!! So may you should call Lonnie Dillon and talk to him about it.
corey earl is from amherst. Every once in a while people slip through the cracks. Lets do the math amherst:13000 residents and a couple bad apples. elyria and lorain:65000 residents and enough bad apples to start a new city. and the amherst police are not the only ones chasing people but you are correct mel maybe they should change that policy.
Amherst resident
Yes, maybe Amherst should no allow police pursuits. That way when people from Lorain, Elyria ETC come there, outright disregard the police orders, then not stop should the police give chase. (Especialy when they are under the influence of say, cocaine) they can continue to operate a vehicle and possibly kill an innocent person. Then who's fault will it be? I am going to guess, the police, for not getting the person off the street before it is too late.

MOS,
She was DUS. Which is not a felony it is a traffic violation. I not completely opposed to the chase. But a traffic offense come on. Do you remember when they had the chase and a lady got kill because of it? She had just left the hospital from seeing her ill sister. Well, that is a good case and I believe the city is being sued. I could see if it was felony ie murder, robbery, or kidnapping. But some police officers get so caught up and forget the innocent bystander which could be me or you.
Perhaps if the drunk driver didn't decide to drink, drive and then run from the police that lady would not of lost her life. What I am trying to say is the police could not have chased the drunk and he still could have killed someoene. I can not help but think that if that would of occured people who still say the PD was at fault, because of the fact that they had the male stopped, they new he was drunk and they did not try and stop him!
