TEENAGER RESCUED FROM WATER

Firefighters from the Wellington Fire District and Elyria Fire Department worked together Friday afternoon to rescue a 17-year-old girl who was stranded on a flooded road on Kipton Nickel Plate near West Road. The girl drove past a “High Water” sign and drove into the flooded area when her car gave out about 200 feet into the flooded area. Dive Team members went out to the car with a boat to rescue the girl and being her back to the awaiting Paramedics from Central Lorain County Ambulance District. The girl was taken to Allen Memorial Hospital to be treated for possible hypothermia.

Where to begin on this one......... did not 2 kids do this 6 months ago? What will it take for people to learn? My hat goes off to the first responders who had to go out and help them, knowing the tragedy experienced in the last year by the fire department.

Well, I came here to say what Bob said, so...Ditto!
If that were my kid she wouldn't be driving for at least a month. And no, I wouldn't be driving her anywhere either.

The sad part is nothing will probably happen to this girl, and she will never realize how many lives were put in harms way because she just wouldn't turn around.....

You're right Bob, hence my first post, there should be a fine for driving past any "high water" or other warning sign when the danger is still clearly there and you end up needing rescued. At the least charge for the FD's time. This was an avoidable situation.
