NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ADVISORY

The National Weather Service has issued the following urgent weather advisory for the Lorain County area:

A HEAT ADVISORY WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL 8pm TUESDAY

Heat index readings are expected to reach between 100 & 104 on Tuesday, and it is possible that a few of the urban areas will see the heat index rise slightly above 105.

A heat advisory is issued when high humidity is expected to combine with hot temperatures to make it feel like it is 100 degrees or higher. People in the advisory area are advised to avoid prolonged work in the sun or in poorly ventilated areas. People are also advised to keep plenty of liquids on hand and try to stay in an air-conditioned environment.

TMC NEWS strongly encourages our readers to check on elderly neighbors who are suffering through this heat alone. Make sure they are ok and keeping cool. We’re also sure that Dick Goddard would like for you to make sure the animals are keeping cool through this extreme heat – so turn a hose on them (or yourself) every now and then.
