POLICE ASKING FOR YOUR HELP

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN?
Amherst – On Sunday August 30th at approximately 4:58 PM, the Amherst Police Department responded to the report of an armed robbery that just occurred at the Advanced Auto Parts store located at 301 N. Leavitt Road.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a male suspect entered the store, walked around for several minutes, picking up a few items which he brought to the counter. While at the counter, the suspect demanded money from two different registers and lifted his shirt placing his hand on a black semi-auto pistol.

The suspect ran out of the store southbound on Leavitt Road with an undisclosed amount of money. A police K-9 was used in an attempt to track the suspect with negative results.

Police say there were no injuries involved in this incident.

It was also learned from store employees that other Advanced Auto stores in Northern Ohio have been the victims of robberies from a suspect fitting a similar description. Other police agencies, including Youngstown, Mansfield, Wooster, Austintown, Warren, Kent, and Hubbard were contacted to compare information.


Suspect description: Black male, approximately 40 years of age, approximately 5’10 between 160 and 180lbs, last seen wearing blue jeans, white t-shirt that is long and kept un-tucked, and a baseball style cap with a shear nylon under his cap.

Weapon is a handgun, black in color.

Possible vehicle involved is an early 90’s 4-door Nissan Altima, tan in color.
