SUV FLIPS WITH FAMILY INSIDE
Elyria – An SUV loaded with 7 family members heading home after spending the night at a drive-in movie was struck by a small car on Chestnut Ridge Road at the intersection of South Abbe. The car came off of South Abbe and struck the SUV near the passenger side rear causing it to spin and roll over onto its side.Witnesses say that immediately after the crash the driver of the small car backed up and drove west on Chestnut Ridge.
Shawn Lauderback was just one of several neighbors who rushed out of their house when they heard the crash. “As we were coming out the car that hit the SUV was already heading away from the crash so we just ran to see if we could help. When we got to the car the people were trying to get out – so we helped get the car door open and then helped them get out.”
Lauderback said that as the family was getting out of their vehicle he was surprised to see the ages ranged from infant to adults. “It looked like the most serious injuries were just some cuts and bruises.”
LifeCare Paramedics treated and transported 3 victims with minor injuries while 4 others refused treatment or transport.
Police received a description of the car and searched the surrounding neighborhoods but were unable to locate the suspect.
Lauderback described the scene as scary and being part the group helping the family out was nerve-racking but said adrenaline took over. “When you hear the baby screaming and crying something takes over and you just do what needs to be done I guess.”

I am the driver of the car. My family & I Really want to express our thanks and blessing to all that helped us. Please let us know who you are. We really would love to thank each of you personally. We are doing well. Many bruises & Sores. The baby is just fine. Later this morning she just wanted to twirl her baton. Thank you all very very much. You have no idea what a blessing you are to me and my family.

Everyone is doing well. We are very sore, bruises and scrapes. My daughter Anna, the baby, is back to normal without any problems. She wanted to go back to twirling her baton after our release from the hospital.

One quick note. Today, we went to check out the car. We found a four leaf clover of my husbands under our daughters carseat. Someone was watching us.. Thank You!
Thank you so muc hawn and other for helping my family after the accident. Through the Lord's grace no one wa seriously injured. THey have located the hit and run drivr.
We had wondered how we would find people to thank them.
