BANNED: TEXTING WHILE DRIVING
Starting July 20th people driving through Cleveland will no longer will be allowed to TEXT WHILE DRIVING.
Cleveland City Council has passed legislation banning the dangerous and sometimes deadly habit. In 2008, more than 2,600 people were killed and over 300,000 people were injured due to drivers Texting While Driving.
In Cleveland, first time offenders will receive a $100.00 fine – get busted a second time the fine is $500.00.
Do you think Texting While Driving should be banned nationwide or do you think making this a law is out of line?

How do you enforce it? And how do you stop at texting? What about eating, drinking, switching radio stations etc.... Haas
They should ban texting and talking on cell, while driving because too many people are too inconsiderate and don't moderate their behavior. A two ton vehicle without an attentive driver is deadly.
I AGREE WITH HAAS. IS TEXTING WHILE DRIVING STUPID? YES.
BUT I SUPPORT IDIOTS RIGHTS TO DO IT. BECAUSE WHERE DOES IT STOP?
Big J,
I would agree with you about leaving idiots to their own vices except in this case - the actions of idiots can kill innocent others.
If we were talking about motorcycle helmet laws - I'd say, leave it up to the rider. It's their choice. But I disagree when it comes to texting and driving, or putting on make up and driving, or drinking and driving, etc...
BECAUSE when you don't wear a helmet on a motorcycle; YOU are the ONLY one who risks injuries that you otherwise might not have, but when you are driving a motorized 2-ton piece of metal, glass, and plastic: YOU put others at risk of injury with your own stupidity. The risks are not confined just to yourself.
