FLOOD WARNING ISSUED

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a FLOOD WARNING for Lorain, Huron and Erie Counties. The warning was issued at 3:45pm today and is in effect until 3:30pm Friday afternoon.

Ice Jam Formation was noted by local Emergency Management Officials on the Huron County River, Vermilion River and Pipe Creek. Ice Jam flooding is possible at anytime along these rivers as water levels increase and the ice cover breaks up.

Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are expected to continue moving across the area into the evening and overnight hours. A sharp increase in the flows along the rivers within the warned area is likely overnight tonight, with a likelihood of Ice Jam Flooding.

Flooding associated with the ice jam is difficult to predict and conditions can change rapidly. If you live along or near rivers prone to ice jams, be prepared to act quickly if flooding is observed or if requested by emergency personnel.
