AMHERST BANK ROBBED

A white male walked into the First Merit on Cleveland Ave in Amherst Wednesday afternoon and robbed the bank.

Police say the man entered the bank just before 3:40 p.m. and handed a teller a note. After reading the note, the teller complied with the request of the note, giving the suspect an undisclosed amount of currency.

The suspect left the bank and ran in a northerly direction, across Cleveland Ave and toward the Olde Towne Pizza Shop.

The scene was processed for evidence by Amherst Police and FBI Agents.


Police say the suspect is described as a 40 year old white male, approximately 6’2”, thin to medium build with dark hair and a mustache with a goatee. The suspect was wearing a baseball style cap with logo on cap, dark in color long sleeve T-Shirt with writing on chest and sleeves, possibly dark in color athletic-style pants with white stripe going down legs (possibly described as “swishy” pants)

Police are not releasing any additional information about the robbery at this time.
