This is a sad night for the United States, for 2 reasons.. #1. Barack Obama is now president elect, and #2. The majority of the country decided to vote for a man w/o expirence in a time when all the expirence is necessary, to stabilize this country. I can only hope that when everything starts to fall even farther apart the Obama supporters have no one to blame but themselves..
.. A true republican supporter..

Let me be the first to say "Booooo" oops, is that politically incorrect??? Hope he spends some of the tax "redirection funds" to fix the teeth of his wife. Her overbite is outrages!!!! And who in the hell picked out that dress she wore tonight??? A republican you say!!! Maybe he will bring his brother to the states now and put him as a member of his cabinet and oh yes his auntie may get a position working as the director of "homeless" in DC.
What a treat or treat being played on the United States of America and how sad the Dumbocrates had to show their disatisfaction for 8 years of George Bush by electing a mulim with terrorist ties...you will see another 9/11...bigger than the last one....all of our soldiers died in vain because now "boy" will be bringing home the troops as soon as his tar and feathering (innigeration)....and no you won't publish this of course not...freadom of speach won't abound on your site!!!

Wow, Elaine, your comments are seriously ignorant.

Does "a true republican supporter" accept the blame for voting Bush into office? how'd that work out?? At least "McBush" wont have a third term. Your comments prove that you live and die by party lines... It has nothing to do with "Country First."
By the way, nice racial remarks, Elaine. You make me sick !!!

I see no blame to be placed... i voted for him .. If he was running i would of voted for bush again... yes i do live by my party lines ( which have been raised by), i support what they stand for.. liberals are the death of society! or innocent unborn children for that matter.. I find it sad that there are a lot of young people who voted, that were brainwashed by famous people (lebron james, movie stars ect.) to believe that obama is what they should believe in.. and that he "understands them".. its total BS .. i find it absolutly sad that people expected that since im a fairly young voter that my vote would go twards obama. i wanted to melt into the ground when i was placed in that catagory. I feel that Barack Obama is only out for the african American Voters, to make a name for his race..Windsor canada is starting to look more like home for atleast the next 4 yrs..
.. A true Republican Supporter..

Got a rise out of ya didn't I...just like Bill Meher the Liberal comedian....but if he would have said that, it would have been funny?????? But because I said it, it was seriously ignorant and racist!!!!!! Get a grip...

No Elaine, if Bill Maher had said that it would have been just as ignorant as when you said it.

And it's pretty sad that you can't even spell freedom correctly.

I don't see how anyone could vote party lines like that. Talk about being brainwashed !!! You let the party decide for you?! You have no opinion of your own?!
As far as the Bush era, he's considered the worst to hold the office in history... and you take pride in the fact that you voted for him and would do it again. LOL. Famous people supported McCain, too. Are they better role models since they supported your candidate? Obviously you and Senator McCain have a difference of opinion... He says "Whatever our differences, we are fellow Americans." and you can't seem to get past the race or the party.
By the way,... let me know if you need a ride to Windsor... America doesn't need pessimists right now. God Bless America !!

I admit I cannot stand his wife, she reminds me of Oprah the Elitist, and his election is the worst thing to happen to this country by far. No I don't stand on party lines. Sure he didn't know his aunt lived here ilegally, bet she is now. Sure he condemned the Rev. Write, bet the were whooping it up last nigt! HOWEVER, Elaine your comments just make us look back, are superficial and not well thought out.Who cares about her looks or her dress...come on!

It's a sad day in history when you have people that take this moment in history and focus on the teeth & wardrobe of Michlle Obama. For each of you who are on here and have nothing but negative comments to say, I ask you... what have YOU done to make this country a better place. These comments don't "get a rise" out of me but confirm what an amazing day in history I have been a part of. This world is filled with ignorance and fortunately the world is ready for change. God Bless America!

I am one that was republican turned democrat for this election and may not now classify myself anything except for whom, I feel is right for upcoming elections. I know what you will call me, and say what you like, but here me out without judgement.
There is a age limit, What is it 47? to run for president. Well why not have a age limit if you are past a certain age. Especially if your VP elect is a nobody. Oh wait Palin is a mom of 5 with an infant with autism. Oh and as some may say a hot body! What does she have to bring to the U.S.A.as VP? Not a dang thing. Even McCain in one of the debates, when asked about what their VP elects, that they had chosen, brought and qualified them to be VP, he had nothing for her. BAD CHOICE. McCain can not even raise his arms in speeches without looking like robot: why? Is it such severe arthritis already? Yet he still chose Palin. He was to worried about bashing his opponent instead of what he could or would do? Another $(4) years of Bush politics, Dont think so. Just like America said last night.
Even if McCain would have won, we could still see more terrorism threats. It would not matter who won, that president would still be pushed and tested to see what they were made of.
No, there will not be drastic or subtle change for awhile, whether who won, we are so far in trouble it will take time to correct. Who did this? Bush! McCain kept promising most of the same. Being a family of living pay check to pay check, I can no longer afford putting more money into oil companies, or even my employer, whom is well worth over 1 mill. pockets. While they get richer and we get poorer. I and like so many others, hope to get a break, because things will not change quickly. Let the wealthy and wealthier now help pay for welfare and other taxes that they have not had to worry about. Let them feel some of our pains. Hopefully Obama can start lowering amount of people on welfare and have them obtain jobs and medical insurance. Have you looked at your emergency rooms lately? Most of these people are using the most expensive place for medical treatment, for doctors office appts. Who pays, we do. SO if Obama can say it is a goal, give him a chance, because McCain does not even care to address it. If he doen't do it then we are still in the same place, but a little better, cause now the wealthier folks can start paying more on it now too.
AS far as experience and McCain compared to Obama, McCain was never President either. Maybe someone young and full of life may be the best experience we could hope for. Not another Bush.

Wow!!! You read this website and the blogs each day. Somedays, I have been so proud to be part of this community and say I live here when you see the compassion that pours from the community.

After reading these blogs this morning, I don't want to tell anyone I live in this community. Whatever your preference was and who you wanted to win the election, let's leave race out of it. Our country and certainly our county is faced with some very trying economic times. It does not matter who is in the office, they now must lead us to the future. Your ability to live your life at your comfort level now falls in the hands of whomever is in any elected position. If they fail, you will fail. That's life!!

So instead of all the badgering back and forth and racist comments, take a moment and realize that today is like many other days in the history of our country. We either come together as one for our country and personal success, or we lose. Stop the crying and give support or leave the country is what I say!!! Having been around the world, you will struggle to find the benefits of living in this country anywhere else in the world!

Wow! Some of the comments...anger, hatred. I voted for McCain! But I know that no one man can solve anything. This country is blessed! People are acting like we live in Haiti or something. I will get behind Obama and pray for him and the leadership of this great country. It is time to move on from all this division that has been caused by the media and the parties. GOD HAS BLESSED AMERICA!!

Ok ''McCain can not even raise his arms in speeches without looking like robot: why? Is it such severe arthritis already?''... Dear god and to think you said you were a republican, the reason he is unabe to raise his arms is because of the tourture when he was a pow. Your a damn moron... and people who keep harping on elaine about being superficial for bringing up michelle obamas dress, it was horrid, but they also went after sarah palin as well.. so check yourself and comments... ''Hopefully Obama can start lowering amount of people on welfare and have them obtain jobs and medical insurance''.... Well there goes the majority of his support, geesh wouldn't want that to happen in four more years, By working in lorain ive seen my fair share of people leeching off the system, "its a way of life for me", "i have insurance its called medicaid".i always wanted to say your welcome.. and i have 10 plus kids cause if i stop procreating i stop earnin that money.. IT MAKES ME SICK~!... And for the comment about "have you looked in your Emergency Rooms lately"... actually the last two nights i havent but im sure i'll be there tonight.. occupational hazzard i suppose..... and what really fried my ass is this morning one of the news shows were interviewing a group of 4th graders, and the little black girl was like my parents told me that they voted for obama because hes black like us... soo why is it, that its ok and i get crap cause i "vote for my party as a declared republican"... thats rather A RACIAL REMARK"...I just dont want to hear any complaining going on when the coutry gets worse, i'll just sit back and laugh and say TOLD YOU SO!... btw there was already someone who is being looked at by the CIA for possible assasination attempt.. There will be more and you cant deny that..

The Bush administration's failed policies over the last eight years has done nothing to fix the problem. I voted for Bush both times and am sorry I did. This country needs a change and Obama might be just what we need. If he doesn't work out, then we vote him out in four years.

I am saddened to see how many closet racists that this election has brought out. Elaine is nothing more than white trash who is threatened by the thought of an African American running this country. I feel sorry for her. It must be scary living in such a state of ignorance.

Congrats to the Obama family. I hope you can live up to the hype and to your promises. I fully expect the anonymous racist remarks to continue. It's easy to hide behind a computer. I must admit that I thought this site was moderated better than this. There is a difference between freedom of "speach" and allowing hate filled messages to be posted. Please reconsider some of the messages posted here. Until this story, this was a proud site.

To James and other loyal readers of TMC NEWS…
In reference to the comments to this story – when I got up this morning I had over 50 comments to this story that I had to review for posting or rejecting.
You can only imagine how horrible the comments were – the hatred, the name calling and the threats were incredibly unbelievable.
The comments from Elaine, although I cannot disagree with her more, I know her and she always signs her name to her posts. I am sure she is one that will offer her Email address if anyone wanted to discuss or debate an opinion she holds. Although the comments, to me, were over the top – they are her feelings and opinions and she should have the right to voice them.
I try to let people voice their opinions and feelings on this site. Sometimes it gets extreme and trust me, you should see the comments that don’t make it on here.
I did review the comments and deleted one – if you see any others that you think I should look at please let me know.
Thanks

Obama is half black and half white. What would happen if 97 percent of whites voted for McCain, that would have been racist. People did not vote for Obama or against McCain, they were voting to make history. You CAN NOT blame the past 8 years on President Bush. What I can not understand is how can we(Lorain county) keep putting the same people back in as commissioners with the way the county has been going the past 5 to 6 years.

I'm so tired of hearing this McBush crap. Yes they are both republican, but they are not the same person. There are different issues at hand today then there were 4 years ago when Bush was elected into office. We are in serious need of experience right now. Not some joe blow who THINKS he knows.

The election is over and we will have a new president who will take office in January. I am a registered Republican but more importantly I am a US citizen and I will support our new president. Like it or not people Barack Obama is our new Commander in Chief so stop the nonsense and lets try to just pull together as one nation and show the other countries that we can support our leaders whom ever they are. All the name calling and ugly words won't change a thing. If you don't like it here take take the first boat or plane and go somewhere else and complain there.

Interesting comments thus far. I'm not one to pile on normally. However, some of the comments were so far off, I have to.

Elaine - You go, girl. Although I do not agree with most of your comments, you have the right to say them. Lower on these comments someone said, "There is a difference between freedom of "speach" and allowing hate filled messages to be posted. Please reconsider some of the messages posted here." You are wrong. Hate filled message are pure freedom of speech. I may not like what you have to say but I will defend your right to say it. And if Bill Maher would have said it, it would have sounded as ignorant as anything else that his ever left his lips. He's never said anything particularly poignant or intelligent...but he has a right to spew his garbage as well. Now I'd like to pull some quotes from a few comments...

As far as the Bush era, he's considered the worst to hold the office in history... Not really. It's your opinion but not fact. Have we all forgotten about Jimmy Carter?

Hopefully Obama can start lowering amount of people on welfare and have them obtain jobs and medical insurance. Well, Obama's entitlement plans he spoke of throughout his campaign will INCREASE your tax base...period. His national healthcare plan (let's call it what it is - socialized medicine) will be a monster to pay for. Who do you think is going to pay for this? If you said the government, you are right. I just hope you realize that we ARE the government when it comes to money. We are the government's employer in the sense that we pay their salaries via our tax base so WE will pay that tab...and many others.

Let the wealthy and wealthier now help pay for welfare and other taxes that they have not had to worry about. Let them feel some of our pains. This is the best smoke and mirror trick I've seen in a long time as most people I've talked to bought it. I've researched Obama's "tax those who make over $250k per year" fiasco. If you peel through the layers you'll realize that it's specifically taxing those with an excess of a $250k per year SALARY. Most people hate the giant corporation CEO's (big oil, major car manufacturers, wall street, etc.) and are glad to see them pay a higher tax rate. If this is you, you would be wrong. Most CEO's draw a relatively small salary. Their vast majority of annual income comes from dividends from the stocks they own in their company. Under Obama's plan, these are NOT taxable. Yup, it sucks and I don't like it either, but that's his plan, not mine.

We either come together as one for our country and personal success, or we lose. Stop the crying and give support or leave the country is what I say!!! Dude, why didn't you sign your name? That was a great comment! I lean towards the right for the most part and supported Bush early on. I would get disgusted with "Bush isn't MY President." Really? So exactly who is YOUR President? I did not vote for Obama and disagree with him on 95% of what he stands for and what he has in mind for this country. However, the legal voting process this country has used since its inception says that a majority of people didn't agree with me and he won. Guess what? He IS my President. The voting process says so. I refuse to be the same person I mentioned above. I believe that starting January 20th he needs to be given a chance to either prove himself or fall flat on his face. That needs to be done without people fighting him every step of the way.

You may want to make sure you don't reveal too much about yourself. You are familiar with the Federal Civil Rights laws and anti-discrimination laws correct? Lighten up a little, bro. Short of intimidation or threats, freedom of speech trumps this. Again, you may not like it but I will fight for her right to say it. I don't agree with what the KKK says nor do I agree with the Aryan Nation but they have that right. If you don't like it, don't read or listen.

I know this was long and kudos to you if you're still reading but it all boils down to this - Obama won...period. I don't like it but that's the great United States of America and proof that everyone has a voice and can make a difference. Now we all need to support him as he is President as of January 20th. Give him the opportunity to do his job. If he fails, we will all have another say in 4 years.

Folks: What happened on Tuesday was a process that was started in this country upon our declaration of independence from England back in 1776. That process is the freedom and right to cast your vote for who you think should head this country for four years. It's called a democracy - the same thing that we are supposedly in Iraq trying to establish for their people.

That election process has occurred many times since then. This time, the majority of the people in this country voted to have Obama serve as our president for four years. In four years, we'll do it all again.

Think back to the doom and gloom we've heard before - John Kennedy: Oh my God, A Catholic will be running the country. Bill Clinton: The liberals are gonna have a heyday! Ronald Reagan: A movie actor for President?

Guess what? We survived the Catholic, the liberal, the actor, and many others - and we're still here!

Be proud of our democracy and what we are allowed to do as a free people. Can't we all just get along?

and before you ask - I am an independent. I vote for the people running and what I think they can do as an elected official, not their party affiliation. OK, now you can let me have it......
