with all the guns, shootings and drugs in lorain they are worried about traffic infractions, why not work on the real crimes that is really hurting people and bringing the city down, but the truth is this is just a revenue generation plan .. I bet this never makes it to post... Never does when someone speaks truth about the men in blue

I wonder why they would say that? I have been a long time reader of this site and really enjoy it. I use to enjoy the comment section because the comments use to be far more productive and informative. Anymore they seem to be mean spirited and 99% of the time anonymous.

I applaud the site for wanting to allow freedom of speach to rein but I wonder if free speach applies to anonymous people.

As far as check points go, I don't have a problem with them. Like the one article said here when the state patrol and nrpd did one a couple weeks ago, you can't just go out one day and throw up a check point. There are standards that have to be met and research. I am all for keeping the government out of our homes and lives as much as possible, but if it means keeping our roads safer then I'm ok with it.

The argument that police do it to bring money in from the fines is just stupid. If cops wanted to just pull money in they would just sit outside of bars at night and near festivals that sell beer, they could grab hundreds of dui's a weekend.

So keep the check points and keep our roads safe. Thanks to the state patrol, nrpd and lpd for doing a great job of being proactive.

tmcnews, i vote for getting rid of anonymous comments.

So much for your just for safety idea , if it was really about safety , wouldnt you rater they sit and get the dui's instead of checking for people with no license ? you must be one of THEM !! And you dont have to be a criminal to want to preserv your right to not being harrased ever time you step out onto public property. I for one dont like to be treated like the common criminal at a check point. just so they can make there quota. Times are tough and you see it with all the police doing chckpoints to make there quotas !!!! wake up and stop being a brown noser !!!!!

I support the check point... For every "A"hole driving w/o a license that they catch, is one less person I have to worry about hitting my car and skipping out before the P.D. arrives.
